Help with learning to play the organ

We are keen to encourage people to learn to play the organ but we are also aware that there may be barriers to this. These might include lack of access to an instrument on which to practice, not knowing the contact details for suitable teachers or it may be that you simply don’t know where to start.

We can help with all this and, where necessary, put you in touch with people who will help you launch your organ-playing journey. With the right help you might find that playing the organ is not as difficult or complicated as it looks!

“This is all very well …...but I could never manage the pedals!” This is often said – but the pedals can be introduced gradually and learning the organ is not just a case of combining hands and feet. You will discover a whole range of new sounds and new repertoire – using the feet little, if at all, at first. There is an enormous repertoire of ‘manuals only’ organ music.
